I remember one year Salt & Straw did a sweet corn ice cream, and it has haunted me ever since.
In the PNW, summer means Dungeness crab, with lots of butter and lemon. I like to make a crisp with all the delicious stone fruit, and eat it cold with yogurt for breakfast. I make Samin Nosrat’s tomato panzanella practically weekly during tomato season (not for at least another month here), and I always make s’more’s at least once.
Salsa from our garden because my partner is now as obsessed with gardening as he is with cooking. And the “lady peas” from my dad’s country that original came from the “country” where my stepmom grew up (the country being Missura)
Love the idea of bringing all the “deconstructed” elements to make a perfect BLT on a spur of the moment picnic. Very romantic. Need to correct one thing in your lovely post: Jordan’s Lobster Farm is in Island Park, NY before you go over the bridge to Long Beach not Jones Beach. And yes Jordan’s is good but pricey.
At Tristan's birthday a few weeks ago, Phil got a high life with a slice of lemon in it and some guy at the party we didn't know referred to that as a "Milwaukee Tropic." This is now, for my money, the bev of the summer.
